Summer Recap

Aug 22, 2014
Oh my goodness! I can't believe it is already August 22nd! Where has the summer gone?!

My goal for the summer was to post regularly and devote more time to my blog, and what happened? The exact opposite. Sometimes things don't go the way you want them to go and you just have to do better the next time. So that is what I am doing! It is a new season, summer break is over, and I am ready to get back in a routine!

I wanted to do a summer recap to show all of the fun things I was able to do this summer! I have already shown some of the things from June so I am starting in July.
Beware: LOTS of pictures below!

Paddleboarding with some of my cousins and Mom, and ending the night with dinner on the river.

My fourth of July was a blast! We went on the boat in the morning and then had lunch at my grandparents' house. Our family loves to play cornhole so we had a tournament and my dad and my uncle Todd were the winners. We ended the night at my great-aunt's house on the lake. She has a beach and it was wonderful. We sat on rocks and stood in the water watching the fireworks from 3 different cities at once.

This is a smores cookie! It is heavenly!

I loved spending time with my mom and grandma in Amish Country one day! We had so much fun going around to all the little shops and seeing all the handmade crafts. We started out at Heini's Cheese Chalet, they have the best homemade cheese!

We ended up eating at this little restaurant and it was so good! The waitresses wore skirts and these super adorable aprons. It was like going back in time!

We had a great time in Ohio visiting family and when we came home we brought my cousin Sarah with us!
I was so glad that she was able to come here and visit! We had such an amazing time going to all the Kansas City musts!
We hit up Smokin' Guns BBQ which was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. If you are in this area, you HAVE to go there! They have some truly awesome BBQ.

We spend a morning at the City Market and then went to Union Station. We tried the coconut water and eating it fresh. I was not a fan but Molley and Sarah were. Sarah and I later found a bullet hole in Union Station from the Union Station Massacre in the 1930s.

Nathan and I attended a friends wedding from church, and it was beautiful! Congrats again Ben and Danielle!

We spent a lovely day at the Missouri State Fair with Nathan's family and two of his siblings' friends. It was such a great time! I LOVE fair food. Corndogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy. Mmmmmm. I love it. Nathan and I got a double cone of pineapple ice cream. Yes, pineapple. It was soooo good, but I couldn't eat one by myself. Nathan and I took his brother, Spencer, and his friend, Isaac, to the Truck and Tractor Pull and they loved it. They were super surprised at how loud it was though! I'd never seen someone cover their ears so fast! We even went to a free circus later in the day! Man, I love fairs.

Soooo remember when Nathan won St. Joe's Got Talent? Well he performed this past Sunday at the Trails West Festival in St. Joe and he was awesome as usual. ;) I sang one song with him that he had written and then after that song he sang one to me called "Jenna Rose". I was so surprised aaaannnddd I may have cried. Okay I definitely cried. It was sooooo sweet.

Life is never dull with this one!

So that concludes my summer break! I didn't realize I had done so many things! As I am writing this all that is going through my head is, "Wow that is a lot of pictures," but hey I warned you. So now it is the last day of the first week of classes and I am so ready for fall break! Haha, just kidding! I will leave you guys with a run of the mill first day of school picture of me. So here it is First Day of Junior Year of College.

How was your summer? What awesome things did you do?!

Hugs,
