Maker Faire

Jul 1, 2015
So this past Saturday was the airshow and Sunday was the 2015 Maker Faire at Union Station! I had never been to the Maker Faire and it ended up being cool. I was a little bored at times just from the fact that I thought there was a lot of the same things like 3-D printers and abstract art.

Nathan and I went down after church and met his dad, brother, and brother's friend at Union Station. It was hot and and we were so hungry! The only food within the Faire came from food trucks. Nathan and I decided to go with something different and got chicken fried rice from the Thai truck. This was my first time trying anything Thai and I really like it! I wasn't a fan of all the cabbage in it but it was still good!

Nathan had an awesome time riding the motorized "things" (I have no idea what their names were). He did say that they were harder than they looked though. We did some fun shopping and I bought a KC shirt and he was given a shirt for free as a promo from the same company. We also got a free birdhouse that we are going to put together today hopefully. I like to call these his "model status" photos.

I have a deep love for craft fairs and small businesses so I was happy to support some local vendors! Some people are just so creative and I am not creative at all whatsoever! I can do some things but it does not come natural, I have to work at it or be told what to do. That is one of the reasons I like the guided social painting classes.

I should be leaving for Ohio to visit family tomorrow night if my dad doesn't get scheduled to work. If he does, we are leaving Saturday and driving all day on the 4th :( Boo! Hopefully I will already be in Lake Erie on Saturday enjoying the sun and fireworks that night.

How are you spending your 4th?

  1. Looks like a great time and love that KC shirt! I've heard a lot of good things about this fair. If you like craft fairs, have you heard of Strawberry Swing? It's a cool one with a lot of indie craft sellers at the Alexander Majors museum. The next one is August 1st. Hope you're having a great day!
