20 Books to Read in Summer 2016

May 18, 2016

Is anyone else just super ready for summer?! I know I am! I can already feel the sun shining down on me laying by the pool with a good book in my hand. Speaking of books- here is my summer reading list!

1. Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter - I actually have this one checked out right now and I am excited to start reading it.

2. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany - Um HP yes!

3. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes - I've heard super cute things about this and the movie trailer looks so good!   (Disclaimer: I made this list without knowing much about any of these books. I didn't realize that this book deals with assisted suicide. If I would have known that beforehand- I probably wouldn't have put it on the list. While this is a relevant topic in today's society, it is one that is just not for me. I have no problems keeping it on the list because someone may enjoy the book but as this topic is something that my family has dealt with before- I have chosen to not read this book or the sequel which is #4- 6/6/16)

4. After You by Jojo Moyes - Sequel to Me Before You

5. The Heir by Kiera Cass - I enjoyed the first three in the series and I am excited to read this one. There is even one more out too!

6. How to Be Single by Liz Tucillo - Recently made into a movie

7. The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews - Perfect summer book!

8. The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith - Robert Galbraith is actually a pen name of JK Rowling and is a series about a serial killer!

9. Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee - The second and last book by Harper Lee. I loved To Kill A Mockingbird so I know this will be great.

10. The Island by Elin Hildebrand - I've actually already read this and it is really good! It is another perfect summer book.

11. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins - Similar to Gone Girl I've been told

12. November 9 by Colleen Hoover - Romance with a twist

13. The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman - Super great book! I have been meaning to read this entirely for awhile now but just haven't gotten around to it.

14. The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan - Based off of the Royal couple Will and Kate! Eeek! Royals!

15. Broken Grace by E.C. Diskin - Amnesia and a murder? Mystery thriller!

16. Dime by E. R. Frank - This book is going to tear my heart out but I need to read it. It is about a teenage girl "rescued" from a broken foster care system by a pimp. It is eye opening and shows the horrors of human trafficking and prostitution.

17. The Lake House by Kate Morton - A family member disappears and years later the mystery starts to unravel.

18. The Guest Cottage by Nancy Thayer - Great summer book!

19. The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews - Another great summer book!

20. Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling - She is so hilarious! This book just looks so great!

What are some of the books on your summer reading list? Any suggestions for a fall list for me?
